Consultation

Every client starts with a consultation so that together we can discover the best course of action based on your health history, your current medication, and your primary health and wellness goals.


Consultations typically last one to two hours depending on the condition(s) being discussed. They include reviewing an intake form, discussing current complaints and challenges to establish baseline measures, and discovering personal affinities and aversions  to aroma selections, and discussing application methods to establish a method that is suitable for the clients needs and feasible for their lifestyle before an individualized plan is created.



Initial Client Consultations are $180
All Additional Follow up Consultations are $120

Formulation

After the consultation,  an Aromatherapy protocol will be provided which often includes a particular protocol that uses either single essential oils/hydrodosol separately, or a combined formulation that is applied in a manner that is suitable for the condition, and the ease and ability of the client.

Individual essential oil and hydrosol costs vary with some being as low as under $10 and some being as high as over $175. Essential oils typically come from the manufacturer in 5ml and 15ml bottles, hydrosols come in 2oz and 4oz bottles. If cost is a concern, all individual essential oils and hydrosols can be dispensed in amounts as small as 1ml to minimize costs and maximize immediate benefits, and more expensive essential oils can be substituted if desired by the client.

Costs also vary within specialized formulation of essential oils/hydrosols either as a source bottle or within a particular carrier medium as again the costs of the therapeutics vary as well as the costs of the carrier medium vary - these costs are discussed prior to formulation in order to ensure the formulation meets not only the physical.mental/emotional well being but also the financial needs of our clients.

Please note, individual and formulated aromatherapy products will picked up by the client unless other delivery methods are arranged.

Please note, we can only guarantee the safety of an aromatherapy formulation if it is formulated with doTERRA, Lotus Garden Botanicals or Aromatics International aromatics.  

Session Work

Many clients benefit from the continued accompaniment of our Aromatherapists within their wellness journey.

An Aromatherapy Session can be set to either focus on a Physical Condition or a Mental/Emotional Concern.


1-1.5 hour Session is $180
2-2.5 hour Session is $240

Please note - Remote sessions are available in some circumstances and others require our Aromatherapists to come to you.

Restoring Physical Health

You, the client choose what aspect of wellness to focus on - digestive health, clearing lungs, mobilizing joints, or healing tissues within the muscles to name a few.

These sessions will include the topical application of aromatherapuetics and one or more of the following:
  • AromaLine therapy to enhance energy flow through the body
  • AromaFlexology to address physical concerns via reflex points on the hands and or feet.
  • Aromamassage to target specific areas of the body to create greater mobility, decrease tension and pain, clear stagnation and increase circulation of the breath, blood, water, and lymph, emotions and memories through your body.

Balancing Emotions and Restoring Mental Health

You the client choose what to focus on like completing a grief cycle, releasing anger, dealing with disappointments, or traumatic events to name a few.

These sessions can include:
  • The diffusion of single or formulated aromatherapeutics for mindful breath work.
  • Topical application through AromaRelease to channel and clear trapped emotional energy within the body.
  • AromaLine therapy to enhance energy flow through the body.
  • Aromamassage to allow you deep relaxation within the body. 

During your session, our Aromatherapist will guide you through practices such as somatic grounding, visualization, tapping, and story telling, and prayer in order to enable you to find empowerment within your story, and process through what you're experiencing so that it informs you - and no longer directs or overtakes you.

What Essential Oils do You Use?

We use Therapeutic Grade Essential Oils

In order to guarantee the Essential Oil will have the effect we're looking for when used with our clients, it's important that the Essential Oils be 100% pure, 100% safe, and 100% effective.  This means, the oils we use are all Therapeutic Grade.  doTERRA offers a CPTG (Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade) Essential Oil, Aromatics International and Lotus Garden Botanicals both offer Therapeutic Grade Essential Oils and Hydrosols.  These are the brands we trust, and recommend to our clients.


What Carrier Oils do You Use?

We use Organic, Cold Pressed Carrier Oils

Many Aromatherapists will use simply Fractionated Coconut Oil, or Almond or Apricot Oil for their carriers, because they are light, absorb well, and are realatively inexpensive. At BCD Aromatherapy, we understand that the qualities of the carrier oil can either benefit the Aromatherapy formulation and experience, or can hinder it.  While these are all great carriers for certain application methods, we pride ourselves in using a variety of carrier oils from Sulu Organics.  All their oils are cold pressed to preserve the integrity and quality of the oil.

Who do You Work With?

Our Clients

Our clients range in gender and age.  There are certain medical conditions that make Aromatherapy using essential oils unsuitable for therapeutic use, such as transplant patients these potential clients are told this upfront when their Client Intake Form is received and reviewed.  These clients are welcome to continue with a Consultation using and referring strictly to the sol use of hydrosols. 


Parents of children or underage minors seeking Aromatherapy treatment or consultation must have express permission and be accompanied by their legal guardian, or someone approved of by their legal guardian during all consultations and sessions.


If a potential client has a mental challenge where they are not able to function and make choices for themselves, or if Lisa Becerra RA, CA deems after speaking with a client that they are having a cognitive impairment, a legal guardian is also required to provide permission for the consultation and the resulting aromatherapy solutions.  When working with a client who has a cognitive impairment, it is critical to understand the client will take time adjusting to and warming up to the use of Aromatherapy, given time and patience, and a good support system, these clients are able to achieve a lot of freedom and stability through Aromatherapy.

Why do We Have to Fill Out a Client In-Take Form?

We understand that the last thing you want to do is fill out paperwork.  Trust us, we've been there too!

The reason why it's important to fill out the Client Intake Form is to allow our Aromatherapist to have all of your health and wellness history in one spot.  Many Essential Oils and Hydrosols have the ability to affect the body in a similar way, however, they do so by the means of different routes, knowing your health and wellness history, the types of medication you take, what your lifestyle is like allows Lisa Becera to formulate a safe, and effective combination of Essential Oils, Carrier Oils and or Hydrosols and other Carriers for you.

Aromatherapy is also one of the few therapeutic modalities where very often the scent of the therapy can be crafted to be pleasing for you based on your preferences and dislikes.

In addition, providing us the details of your basic lifestyle habits gives us a good gauge to know when you're back to "normal" or if the protocols suggested need to be adjusted in order to better serve you.
What Happens in a Consultation?

The Consultation

During your initial consultation, we will go over your Client In-take Form to review your answers and ensure we understand your goals, and concerns, and that we have a full picture of the state of your health that day.

Depending on why you're coming to see us, you may also be asked to fill out a pain assessment, a stress assessment, or a Traditional Chinese Medicine assessment in order to better serve you and provide a better picture.  These are typically re-done every 2-3 months, or as requested in order to provide updates on the effectiveness of the sessions/formulation.

After this, you will discuss the results, and the recommendations for care and treatment to see which seems to make the most sense to you.  If an Aromatherapy Formulation is  desired, these are tailored for your preferences of lotion, salve, cream, body oil, clay pack, bath blend, compress formulation, room mister, diffuser blend, inhaler formulation, etc. based on what methods of application are most applicable for your condition or concern, and based on ease of use for you.
How Often do You Recommend Your Clients See You?

Frequency of Consultations & Sessions

This is a complex question, and often it's one that changes as the client's condition changes.  Best practices is to have additonal Consultations every three months in order to ensure that the client's health condition is improving how they'd like it to, and typically by then we may be addressing new or different health concerns as the original one often has already been alleviated.

Many clients find that when they choose to have Aromatherapy Sessions, it works best to have them weekly.  Depending on the person, and the condition some clients are very capable to stretch these out to bi-monthly for chronic conditions, and it is recommended to be weekly for acute conditions to provide physical, mental, emotional and energetic support of the client as they are restoring balance back into their bodies.

After the acute stage, of the injury, or illness has completed, or the chronic condition has subsided then the sessions can be moved to bi-monthly or monthly as desired until the goal is achieved. Our goal is not to have lots of clients we currently see - our goal is to have lots of client's we've helped who no longer need our services because they've found better health and wellness!

We do consider it the best referral when clients that come to us with physical limitations or pain often continue with us after their initial concern is addressed to continue working through other areas of the body to find greater ease of movement, and to help combat years of physical stress, strain, and tension their bodies have been carrying for a long time.
How Long do You Work With Your Clients?

Duration of Sessions

This too is a complex questions, if a client comes to address a mental, or emotional concern, the sessions are typically an hour to hour and half.  If the client comes to address a body complaint, the session is typically two hours to two and half hours.

Some clients have seen dramatic improvement in 2-3 sessions, most require 2-3 months in order to see the improvement they desire, and clients that have chronic conditions with preexisting and longstanding challenges that we are ready to continue to work with as long as they request it.  

Most of our clients see improvement after the very first session, and are excited to continue to work with us for the first 2-3 months. After their initial challenge has been alleviated, we are often welcomed back to work on something else in the future.
What Are Your Illness Policies?

Safety & Precautions

Providing healthcare is essential.

As we are providing services in the state of California, we are adhering to safety precautions the state is asking for.

Many clients are seen in the privacy of their own home, so there is ample time for sanitizing the treatment room between clients seen in office.  All linens, are sanitized, and all equipment the clients or Aromatherapists come in contact with are sanitized before and after each session. 

Masking is required when the state is requesting it, and clients are welcome to request that our Aromatherapist wear a mask during the session as they are comfortable.

Any client who has a positive CoVid-19 test is asked to notify the Aromatherapist as soon as possible so that they can self isolate, and contact any other clients they've seen or worked to let them know of their potential exposure.  Clients will be notified as soon as possible of changes to their sessions if a self isolation is required.  The client is asked to obtain a negative test, or be completely free of symptoms prior to their next consultation or session.

If a client has an exposure to someone who is CoVid-19 positive, we ask that they reschedule any consultations or sessions that cannot be accomplished through remote means for 10 days after their 1st exposure in order to ensure the continued safety of all of our clients.

If a client is ill, we ask that they reschedule their appointment for 10 days after their first symptom if their consultation or session cannot be done through remote means.

If our Aromatherapist is ill they will contact all their clients immediately to cancel their appointments, and will contact them again after they are better, or in 5 days to schedule remote consultations or sessions, and in 10 days to schedule in person consultations and sessions again based on their full recovery.
